Privacy Policy

CartCast is a family grocery coordination app from Five to Nine Labs LLC. We built it to make weekly grocery runs easier for households — not to mine your data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

Account information

• Name and email address when you create a CartCast account.
• Apple ID identifier if you sign in with Apple.
• Home address you enter for finding nearby pickup stores.

Family members you add

• Names, phone numbers, roles, and alternate addresses you enter for the people you shop for. You are responsible for confirming each person has consented to receive SMS from CartCast on your behalf.

App content

• Shopping lists, blasts, replies, remote orders, and order history — the things you and your family create inside CartCast.

SMS messages

• Inbound SMS replies from family members are stored and associated with the corresponding blast, list, or remote order so we can show them inside your account.
• Outbound SMS (blasts, reminders) is sent through Twilio from your family's provisioned phone number.

Diagnostics

• Crash reports and performance data via Sentry, used to fix bugs and improve performance.
• Product analytics via PostHog, used to understand which features people use. These analytics are not shared with advertisers or data brokers.

Subscription data

• If you subscribe to CartCast Premier, RevenueCat manages your entitlement on our behalf. We do not store your payment information — Apple handles payment.

2. How we use information

• To run the core CartCast features: sending blasts, receiving replies, organizing lists, tracking orders.
• To send transactional SMS to family members you've added (blast prompts, restock reminders, clarifications).
• To find nearby stores using your home and members' alternate addresses.
• To fix bugs, monitor uptime, and improve features.
• To manage your subscription if you have one.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to track you across other apps or websites.

3. Service providers

We rely on a small number of vendors who process data on our behalf, only to the extent needed to operate CartCast:

• Supabase — database and authentication.
• Twilio — SMS delivery.
• Anthropic (Claude API) — AI parsing of blast replies into structured lists. Replies are sent ephemerally for parsing and not retained by Anthropic on our behalf.
• RevenueCat — subscription state.
• Sentry — crash reporting.
• PostHog — product analytics.
• Apple — App Store, in-app purchases, and Sign in with Apple.

4. Your choices and rights

• Edit or remove family members from inside the app at any time. Removing a member deletes their data.
• Opt out of SMS — any family member can reply STOP to a CartCast text to stop receiving messages from your account.
• Export your data — email support@cartcast.app and we'll send you a copy of your CartCast data.
• Delete your account — email support@cartcast.app and we'll permanently delete your account and all associated data within 30 days.
• Disable analytics on iOS via Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

5. Data retention

We keep your account data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it.

6. Children

CartCast is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. The app is intended for adults coordinating grocery shopping for their household, which may include adding children's phone numbers as family members. By adding a minor's phone number, you confirm you are their parent or legal guardian.

7. Security

We use industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (Supabase Postgres). No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and will notify you if a breach affects you.

8. Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when our practices change and post the new date at the top. Significant changes will be announced inside the app.
